A political storm has erupted on social media after former President Goodluck Jonathan was alleged to have revealed that he once received a staggering ₦500 billion offer to contest against Peter Obi in a bid to reduce the Labour Party candidate’s support in Nigeria’s South-South region.
According to the viral claim, Jonathan reportedly turned down the mouth-watering offer, saying he could never betray the people who stood firmly behind him during some of the most difficult moments of his political career.
The statement further claimed that he expressed deep gratitude to the Igbo people for their unwavering loyalty and support, insisting that no amount of money could make him turn against those who had shown him genuine solidarity.
